Calorie Counting Made Tedious
Ive done calorie counting on my own using spreadsheets formatted to calculate cumulative percentages of macronutrients by calorie (protiens, carbs, fats). This app is doesnt give you a percentage but a total in grams of macronutrients--kind of useless information, and you have to get on a calculator to get the information that is really useful. If you dont care about that and just want a running tally of your calories, its fairly decent….but again, it doesnt do anything a spreadsheet couldnt and I find spreadsheets are much easier to use. For example, this app doesnt allow you to copy meals from other days when you have the same meal more than once. You have to enter it manually over and over again. The food database is also kind of lame and there arent enough options for portion sizes. Again, it measures in grams (for example, one hardboiled egg can be selected in either grams or cup size). I would prefer if they gave an option for ounces, which Im used to, or estimates according to an average portion size (such as "large egg," "medium egg," etc.) Overall, I found this app annoying to use and lacking in features and options that should have been really easy to add. Instead of this, I suggest using calorieking.com for calorie amounts (they give more options for portion sizes and include percentages of macronutrient ratios by calorie) and entering into a spread sheet. This way you can copy and paste meals when you repeat them, and come up with some neat graphs on your calorie consumption and weight loss.
